Delete your account

You can delete your Out There account and the personal data attached to it at any time. You do not need the app installed to do it.
Fastest route, if you have the app. Open Out There, go to You, then Settings, then Delete account. It takes effect immediately and you do not need to contact us.
If you no longer have the app
Email hello@outtheretogether.com from the address you signed up with, with the subject Account deletion request.
We will confirm within 3 working days and complete the deletion within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm the request from your registered email address, so that nobody else can delete your account.
There is no charge, and we will not ask you why.
What gets deleted
- Your profile: display name, profile picture, home port, interests and description.
- Your gallery photos, and the photos you sent in chats, except an image that has been reported, which is kept as evidence until its report is deleted after 12 months.
- Your identity and intent preferences. The record that you gave or withdrew consent is kept, as explained below.
- The result of your identity verification, if you verified.
- Your address on our email provider, Sender.
- Your sailing memberships and planning or booked status.
- Your relationship links and travelling-with links, and the records of requests to link or to travel together, whether you sent them or received them.
- Any mention invitations and mention records that involve you, whether you were mentioned or did the mentioning.
- Your @handle, which stops showing on your profile. We keep a coded fingerprint of it, as explained below.
- Your crew memberships, invitations and shortlists.
- Events you host, and your replies to other people's events.
- Your sign-in credentials.
- Your one-to-one (direct) chats, in full, since with your account gone there is no one left who needs to read them.
What is kept, and why

Something short of deletion
If you want a break rather than a deletion, you do not have to close your account. You can leave a sailing or a crew at any time, and blocking and muting are available from any profile. Email us if you would rather we simply stopped contacting you.
